From when we had a repair shop we always mounted the cableways channels on the wall and left the desks out about four to five inches from the wall. After that, we mounted the long power strips on the wall just above the channel and concealed it all with a piece of aluminum bent over to conceal all but the cords that came through. Not saying you have to do it, just that it worked for us.

Kyle - great plan, can't wait to see it on camera. One thing that I'd bring up - power utilization. You're already looking at a good PDU with those Stanley units, they'll get the job done. But consider how much amperage that you'll be drawing when you're running the production studio full tilt. Will the utility in the space handle it? Also, you're out in CA, so I figure you're familiar with the power grid issues. If it's me, I'm investing in a few UPSes, even if the space has a backup generator. One for the networking rack (which you'll also likely want a good NGFW along with a quality Ethernet switch - 10 GbE over copper would be a great option if you're planning on any infrastructure to support the editing bay/backups, etc.), one to protect the camera equipment/lighting and maybe one for each of the tabletops around the perimeter of the defined space. Wouldn't need to be a huge UPS, but bigger would give you more runtime/headroom. You could also put a smaller one on the mobile cart so you could roll an entire PC kit around the space and not worry about having to shut it down to move it.

2 presentation tables, both on casters. You'll use em both at times and just one most of the time. And you should push the outer legs on the two back outside tables closer to the edge for less dead space. Last, for the price of the raceways, you could build a false tabletop underneath the "show" tops with loads of room under each "show" top for cable/powerstrip/etc..

for each desk have a floating shelf above it that is centered to 3/4 or 5/8 the size of the desk. for each of theese shelfs and desks decorate them with a different them. like colors, video games, computers or anything that can be made a theme for each one of the five desks. then you can have any fitting theme for any video. HOPE YOU SEE THIS AND IT HELPS!

Kyle get solid wood tops pls. Ikea Gerton Tabletops that are solid Beach. $100 a piece measures 61"x29.5" The are pre drilled for legs. All of their other products are particle board with veneer and a honeycomb carboard filler. You can go to your local Home center and get in drilled slab doors for less. People on you tube saying Ikea tops are chipping and peeling apart.

one presentation table with casters, with all other tables matching same level or height as the portable presentation table. That way you can rotate the presentation table as needed or combine with another table in case you need a larger surface area. I also feel the cameras are too close. If you had more distance, could possibly have the cameras on a glider rail hanging down from the ceiling with a curved rails at the end ( like an elongated letter U) so you can shoot from an angel on the far sides. Instead of a metal table, build a wooden table with a nice stain and lacquer finish. You can change the surface with variable color rubber mats preventing things from sliding off the portable table. I believe 2 cameras would be adequate when filming one person (You) and if you have a Guest then set up a 3rd camera. The microphones could be attached to the camera or an extended boom also have reduced noise filter to prevent echos off the walls. The studio is an expensive ordeal but I believe you should evaluate each situation as it arises and having patience, think it and make changes as required, the final result will be much better than you originally had planned and you'll be astonished by the work you have done. Always make time and room for alternate plans. Just keep your Kool and don't get frustrated. Genius at work!
BobbyBeRad - 14 dager siden
I’d recommend a rubber mat to stand on while at the vertical table (only if you’re standing for long periods of time, 1+ hours perhaps) since your work floor is concrete. Your lower extremity joints will thank you in the future!
Gsup7s - 14 dager siden
The whole wall behind the desk. And the smaller wall on the side of the desk. Should be painted green screen green.
That way you can change the background with every episode.
You could just have the universe floating in the background. Like that VR desktop app you did a video on.
Or perhaps something pertinent to the build you are filming.
Or even both.

The IKEA is veneer, and the custom maker was probably using solid walnut, hence the drastic difference in price! I am building my own desk out of red oak, and that is expensive enough as it is. That's with the top being red oak ply.

Just a suggestion but what if
you done three different setups for each table for example budget on the left high end/mid on the right and an absolute over kill in the mid as the focal point the reason I suggest this is because you do different budget categories on your channel for builds and I thought that it would represent your channel quite accurately in my opinion

You should probably be using a standig desk on the right workplace area of the set. Working and screwing while sitting is bad. You might wanna stand up. Plus: that is a lot of table legs holy moly. What if you use one leg shared where the tables are standing beside each other.

The new studio is looking good so far.
I have two suggestions:
1) That front room is going to get hot. If not done already, tint the windows. That'll also add privacy.
2) Carpet the floor. That'll cut down on echo and save your knees. If you're not going to carpet immediately (or ever) I suggest buying a rubber mat like they use in restaurant kitchens.

Kyle, I'm speaking from a camera perspective but I do hope before you build the set you have taken a camera and tested to see if what you want to do will work. Hey Kyle! Recently I’ve started to become very invested in my PC, I bought it from iBuypower and it’s an absolute beast minus the mobo and blower style GPU (and awfully controlled case rgb lights). Lately I’ve been thinking that it’s truly not exactly what I want now that I know MUCH more about PC building. It’s only about a year and a half old, but do you recommend custom building my own rig? Budget would be around 2k-2.5k IF I sold this PC

Current PC specs: Intel i7-9700k, coolermaster ml240l V2 AIO cooler, NVIDIA 2070 RTX (blower style), ASRock z370 ib-r (I can never find much on this thing, I believe it’s tweak by iBuypower and is very budget), 16g ddr4 ram, 240g SSD + 1TB m.2 SSD, and 600 watt 80+ bronze PSU. My biggest concerns are by far Mobo and GPU
